This model is based on the wagon that can be found in the middle of the Tesco/Aldi roundabout in the centre of Ilkeston. Please click here to view images of this wagon. The wagons were once common in and around the Stanton Iron works that was accessed via the Erewash Valley Line. Not much remains of Stanton Iron works and the vast network of sidings, although a single spur does still exist to the Stanton Gate from the main line. Plans are afoot to eventually turn this area into a freight hub that would be able to support containers and other associated infrastructure.
